Quotations

ST. AUGUSTINE

"All of you who stand fast in the Lord are a holy seed, a new colony of bees, the very flower of our ministry and fruit of our toil, my joy and my crown. It is the words of the Apostle that I address to you: Put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh and its desires, [Romans 13:14] so that you may be clothed with the life of him whom you have put on in this sacrament. You have all been clothed with Christ by your baptism in him. There is neither Jew nor Greek; there is neither slave nor freeman; there is neither male nor female; you are all one in Christ Jesus. [Galatians 3:27-28]"

ST. FRANCIS DE SALES

"When the bee has gathered the dew of heaven and the earth's sweetest nectar from the flowers, it turns it into honey, then hastens to its hive. In the same way, the priest, having taken from the altar the Son of God (who is as the dew from heaven, and true son of Mary, flower of our humanity), gives Him to you as delicious food."

"Nothing is sweeter after having received Jesus

than to give and spread everywhere

the fragrance of his virtues."

"May your soul, like a mystical bee, never abandon the dear little King and may everything within it be for Him."

“A spoonful of honey attracts more flies than a barrelful of vinegar.”

'Meditation is made, we may say, as the bees make honey; for they make it by gathering the dew that falls from heaven upon the flowers, and drawing a little juice from these flowers, which they change into honey, and then carry to their hives. Thus we go over and over the life of our Lord in meditation, taking up one action after another, and considering them, in order to compose the honey of holy virtues, and draw from them the graces of a holy meditation.'
~ 'Mystical Flora'

ST. JOHN CHRYSOSTOM
"The bee is more honoured than other animals,
not because she labors,
but because she labors for others."

ST. JOHN DAMASCENE

"In imitation of the method of the bee, I shall make my composition from those things which are conformable with the truth and from our enemies themselves gather the fruit of salvation. But I shall reject all that is worthless and falsely labeled as knowledge."
